Beauty can be extremely subjective, but there is no denying that certain traits are appealing to a wide range of people. For example, multiple studies have found that people rate symmetrical faces as the most attractive. Dr. Charles S. Eyelid Surgery
Although most of the time, blepharoplasty is performed to rejuvenate sagging, aging eyelids, it can also be performed much earlier to help patients with asymmetrical lids. Dr. Lee has seen many patients who have eyelids that are different sizes or that open to different widths. Since this discrepancy can downgrade the overall attractiveness of the face, Dr. Lee can perform surgery on one (or both) eyelids to make sure they correspond.
Rhinoplasty
Because the nose rests front and center on the face, it is nearly impossible to hide its flaws. Fortunately, Dr. Lee can correct an asymmetrical nose with rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping surgery. Rhinoplasty manipulates the cartilage and bones to restore balance to the nose by straightening the bridge, adjusting the size of the nostrils and/or ensuring that the projection of the nasal tip points forward.
Chin Augmentation
Dr. Lee has two techniques for augmenting the chin: inserting a medical-grade synthetic implant or performing sliding genioplasty to carefully move the chin bone forward. Both can be useful in correcting an asymmetrical chin. Moreover, the procedure can attain better balance for the face. Since the chin is supposed to project at a similar proportion to the nose and forehead, a weak or recessed chin can make the face appear irregular.
Injectable Fillers
Though Dr. Lee offers many surgical options for correcting symmetry, changes can be made with non-invasive procedures as well. Dermal fillers, including Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse, are a quick, easy and pain-free way to restore volume to targeted areas of the face. These are especially useful tools if one cheek appears to be a different in size from the other, or if the lips are uneven. To maintain the results, the patient does need to return for additional injections every several months.
