While aging will eventually undo the rejuvenating effects of certain minimally invasive procedures, the results of some cosmetic surgeries can last a lifetime. Here, Dr. Lee discusses some of the long-lasting surgeries he performs:
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can change the size of the nose, smooth out the bridge, alter the projection of the nasal tip and modify the nostrils. Many of rhinoplasty’s changes affect the cartilage, which is not as susceptible to aging as other parts of the face. For that reason, rhinoplasty’s effects should last indefinitely.
Liposuction/CoolSculpting
Liposuction is a popular surgery that removes unwanted deposits of fat from many areas of the body. CoolSculpting is a less-invasive treatment that kills fat cells with freezing temperatures; these cells are eventually expelled from the body, and the result is a more aesthetically pleasing contour.
Both fat removal procedures can be considered permanent. Fat cells destroyed are gone forever. As long as the patient maintains a steady weight thereafter, the results should remain.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is considered permanent. By removing excess skin, tissue and fat from the breast, Dr. Lee helps patients to achieve breasts that are in better proportion to their body. Unless there is a major fluctuation in weight, the new size of the breasts should not change.
Brazilian Butt Lift
BBL is a fat transfer procedure that harvests fat from one part of the body (the abdomen, thighs, flanks, back, arms, etc.) and reinserts it into the buttocks to achieve larger, rounder contours. Because the fat cells are the patient’s own, they usually thrive even after being relocated. This allows the results to last indefinitely.
Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation is popular among people with weak chins and those who want to create a stronger jawline. Dr. Lee can achieve this by cutting the chin bone from the jaw and moving in forward to make it more prominent, or by carefully crafting an implant in a size and shape that creates harmony with the rest of the face. The good news is that it is perfectly safe to leave a silicone implant in the chin for the rest of one’s life.
Kybella
Another popular chin treatment is Kybella. This injection of deoxycholic acid specifically targets the fat cells beneath the chin. Once these cells are destroyed, the patient’s double chin should fade away permanently. Clinical trials have found that even when a patient puts on weight, the extra fat does not cling to the chin as it once did.
